Police Investigate Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident

HOUSTON - Police are trying to determine why a driver allegedly failed to stop the vehicle after it struck a person along a southeast Houston road. The pedestrian struck by the vehicle later died.
The accident took place on Thursday afternoon on McCarty Road between Tilgham Street and Cowart Street.
Officers arrived to the accident site and had the victim taken to Ben Taub General Hospital, but a Houston Police Department spokeswoman said that the victim died after 2 p.m.
The driver may face a charge of failure to stop and render aid.
