HOUSTON - Police say an argument at a party led to a high-speed chase and car crash in southeast Houston.
A couple was leaving a hotel party at approximately 1 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Bay Area Boulevard and Interstate 45, the Gulf Freeway, following the alleged argument. Investigators say another man entered his vehicle and followed the couple's car onto Bay Area Boulevard.
The chase between the two vehicles reached speeds of up to 100 mph. The driver who followed the couple allegedly drove the vehicle into the rear of the car with the couple inside.
The driver of the impacted car lost control of the vehicle and went off the road. The car ran over several concrete curbs, hit a utility box and crashed into two small trees before rolling over several times. The vehicle stopped next to a crepe myrtle tree.
Investigators say the driver of the second vehicle did not stop.
The woman in the crashed car was taken to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital in stable and alert condition while the man who drove the car was taken to Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in stable condition.
Charges are pending against the driver who crashed into the car with the couple inside.
