HOUSTON - A motorcycle rider is in critical condition after he was dragged under a trailer for almost 50 feet.
The accident took place at approximately 8:45 p.m. Sunday in northeast Harris County. The rider was traveling eastbound on Garrett Road at a high rate of speed when a pickup truck hauling a boat began to slow down in front of him on Garrett Road near East Beltway 8, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators say the rider slammed on his brake which caused the motorcycle to slide a short distance and strike the side of the boat trailer. The crash caused the rider to fall off the motorcycle and become lodged under the trailer.
The rider, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital. The driver and passengers in the pickup truck that hauled the boat were not hurt.
