Houston - College baseball sources told FOX 26 Sports the University of Houston is moving in a different direction with its baseball program and Rayner Noble will no longer continue as the head coach.
Sources told FOX 26 UH officials and Noble are negotiating the remaining three years on his contract which are worth a total of $730, 000.
Noble, who is the winningest baseball coach in school history with 551 wins, was 25 and 32 in 2010 which included a 24-3 loss to cross-town rival Rice in the Conference USA Tournament.
He was 27-31 last year.
Noble, who has been the Cougar baseball coach for 16 years, took UH to the Super Regionals three times, eight trips to the NCAA Tournament, won three Conference USA regular-season titles and three Conference USA Tournament championships.
He is the only coach in UH history to lead the program to five consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Noble's career record at Houston is 551-420.
Noble and University of Houston athletics director Mack Rhoades have not been available for comment.
