Former University of Houston defensive tackle Alfred Oglesby passed away at the age of 42.

Jennifer Coston, of the Harris County Medical Examiners Office, told FOX 26 Sports Monday no cause of death was listed as yet.

She said Oglesby died Saturday night.

Oglesby was taken in the third round of the 1990 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins where he played for two years.

He split time between the Green Bay Packers and the Dolphins in 1992. Oglesby also played for the New York Jets in 1994 and the Cincinnati Bengals in 1995.

Oglesby played in 59 NFL games, starting 14 and had four quarterback sacks.

He played defensive tackle at Houston in 1987, '88 and '89.

Oglesby was an All-Southwest Conference defensive lineman and Sporting News Honorable Mention All-American in 1989.

Former UH defensive line coach Tony Fitzpatrick is stunned at the news on Oglesby.

"I'm shocked because he was such a gentle giant," Fitzpatrick said in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. "He was one of the nicest people off the field.

"On the field he was feared by the offensive linemen he played against. I loved the kid like a son and the sad thing is he leaves behind three sons of his own and a wife."
