HOUSTON - Former President George W. Bush is teeing off for a weekend of golf that helps the families of U.S. war veterans.
President Bush serves as the honorary chairman for Patriot Golf Day which benefits children of parents who were killed or or were severely injured in combat.
Former fighter pilot Dan Rooney, who is now a professional golfer, is the founder of Patriot Golf Day. The 4th annual edition of the event takes place between Friday, Sept. 3 and Monday, Sept. 6, which is Labor Day.
Patriot Golf Day will take place at almost 4,000 golf clubs throughout the U.S.
More than 30 golf clubs in the Houston area are taking part in Patriot Golf Day.
