Free agent guard Chester Pitts confirmed Tuesday he will meet this week with the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers beginning with the Lions Wednesday.

Pitts said he is not just window shopping.

"If the Lions give me something I can't refuse, I am not leaving Detroit and I will cancel my trip to San Francisco," Pitts said in an interview with FOX 26 Sports.

Pitts said he is impressed with what's happening in Detroit.

"I like what (Lions Head) Coach (Jim) Schwartz is doing," Pitts said. "He's really upgraded his defense by adding (defensive tackle) Corey Williams and (defensive end) Kyle Vanden Bosch."

Pitts started every game in Houston Texans history (114) before suffering a season-ending knee injury during the second game of the 2009 season.

He said he is about two months from being completely recovered and is thrilled to be making these visits.

"This is exciting because this is about me continuing my career," Pitts said.

Last season Pitts was one of two remaining original Texans. The other is kicker Kris Brown.
