HOUSTON - Voters are going to the polls Tuesday to elect a new Houston mayor but voter turnout has been predictably light.
There are not any lines like there were for election day on 2008 for the Presidential race.
At the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center in the Montrose, voters said every election is important. They are disappointed to hear predictions that the voter turnout is expected to be less than 25 percent of registered voters.
Houston voters are not only choosing from a field of seven candidates for mayor, but they also have local and at-large seats to decide on for Houston City Council. The City Controller position is up for grabs as well.
Voters are reminded to bring some form of identification to the polls on Tuesday and must vote at his or her designated polling place since the early voting period ended on Friday.
