HOUSTON - Amidst outcry that President Obama's speech is a form of indoctrination of America's youth, one group has said that the dissenters are unpatriotic.
The Honey Brown Hope Foundation Center has teamed up with other organizations, including the NAACP chapter of the University of Houston, to hold a prayer vigil for what they see as contradicting messages regarding school dropouts.
"We must pray for those school districts that spitefully use our children in the name of education," said Tammy Lang Campbell, founder and executive director of the Honey Brown Center.
According to the group's press release, the right-wing agenda is creating dissent in order to promote their own interests above the needs of school children.
The group has urged parents and children to take steps in order to send a message to whom they call, "unpatriotic school district administrators".
These steps include turning on a vehicle's headlights while driving to school and having school children wear President Obama T-shirts to class, according to the press release.
"It is unpatriotic for schools to send our children contradicting messages to stay in school and be productive citizens, but not emphasize the importance of the United States' President, Barack Obama's, message to stay in school," said Campbell.
