WILLIS, Texas - Authorities say a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was forced to shoot a driver who led the trooper on a high-speed vehicle chase.
After 1 a.m. Tuesday, the trooper who was situated on Interstate 45 south of Willis watched as a car was traveling northbound on the highway at a speed of more than 100 mph.
The trooper followed the speeding car and tried to apprehend the suspect, but fired a gunshot at the driver when officials say he tried to resist arrest.
The driver was wounded once and was taken to Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital, but was later taken by Life Flight medical helicopter to Memorial Hermann - Texas Medical Center.
