HOUSTON - Two Houston-area high school athletes were taken to hospitals after collapsing during practice Wednesday afternoon.
A Dawson High School sophomore collapsed during a routine football practice drill around 1 p.m., officials with Pearland ISD said.
Nearly three hours later, a Magnolia West High School soccer player collapsed on the practice field, according to a Magnolia ISD statement.
Staff at both school districts performed CPR and used a defibrillator on the students before paramedics arrived.
Both players were transported to local hospitals.
