KENDLETON, Texas - Deputies have arrested a Kendleton resident who was charged with impersonating a police officer.

Charles Cole, 36, was arrested Friday morning at his home.

Cole attended an event Sunday at a rodeo arena in the Arcola area when deputies say a security guard was forced to stop a fight between Cole and someone else, according to a statement released Friday by the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.

After Cole began to fight with the security guard, that guard told deputies that Cole, who wore a uniform with the word "POLICE" embossed on the front and back of the shirt, announced he was a police officer. The uniform shirt also had law enforcement patches.

The security guard told deputies Cole grabbed the guard's wrists and held the guard's arm behind his back. Cole also tried to grab the gun from the security guard's holster, but was unable to do so.

No bond amount has been set for Cole, who is in custody at the Fort Bend County jail and has not appeared before a judge.

Impersonating a police officer is a third degree felony that carries a sentence of at least two years and no more than 10 years along with the possibility of a fine of up to $10,000.
