HOUSTON - The residents in a northwest Houston neighborhood are fed up with the speeders and drunk drivers who are cutting through their streets and crashing into their homes, cars and mailboxes.

This morning was like deja vu for a couple that lives in northwest Houston's Inwood Forest subdivision. They've had a car come crashing into their home, not once, but twice, in less than a year.

"I keep thinking I'm going to wake up and that this can't really be," homeowner Sue Liska said.

But at 5:30 a.m. Friday, Sue Liska did wake up to a frantic phone call from her next door neighbor.

"Sue get out here, your house has been hit."

When she got outside, she saw a pile of rubble. The side of her home completely smashed, bricks sprawled across the driveway and tire tracks.

Sue knew exactly what had happened.

"Came across here, took care of my sprinkling system, came across here hit the bricks the wall backed up here, took part of our gutter, probably the rest of it's wrapped around their car, and you can see the marks here where they took off down the driveway down the street.

“It says something about people doesn't it? Not even decent enough to stop and say anything, but yeah," she said.

You see, this isn't the first time she has walked outside and found the front of her home a complete wreck.

"It wasn't as serious, but in May same thing, almost identical path, took out all of this beautiful shrubbery that we had, nice landscaping, hit the neighbors house," she said.

Yup! There are other victims too.

"Someone came down here, lost control and ran into their car and did great damage.

“Had to be towed away, mailbox there was knocked over last week and this is about the fifth time this has happened since they've been living here, it's terrible," she said.

"Approximately 6 months ago they came through her yard, took out a plant, hit the side of my house, took out gravel, tore up some plants and left a big hole in my yard," neighbor Barbara Harrison said.

Barbara Harrison has lived on Green Lawn Drive for 23 years, and Sue for 15.

"People use this as a shortcut to go from Antoine to West Little York so in the morning, everyone is speeding to work, at night everyone is speeding home from drinking," Sue said.

Even though the speed limit is 30 mph, both women say it's only a matter of time before these drivers cause even more damage.

"It makes me feel unsafe, it really does, terrified," Harrison said.

"It's a very scary thing and we're all afraid to back our cars out because if someone is coming around, you're going to get hit," Sue said.

The homes, that have been hit, sit at the dangerous curve in the road. The ladies believe speed bumps could solve the problem.

"We're really hoping that the city will come through for us and get some speed bumps that will slow things down," Sue said.

"I'd like to see radar units out here and speed bumps, we've been working on this for a long time," Harrison said.

While the mess is starting to get cleaned up, Sue says it will be weeks before everything is fixed and she has a garage door that works.

Both Sue and Barbara will be installing security cameras so the next time something happens, they can catch a license plate.

But hopefully there won't be a next time.
