HOUSTON - Authorities arrested five people accused of conducting fraudulent vehicle inspections at two north Houston businesses.
Investigators targeted two Pit Pros businesses in the 2100 block of Aldine Westfield and the 10000 block of North Houston Rosslyn Road on Monday.
Both are state-licensed vehicle inspection locations.
Investigators saw inspectors passing vehicles that would not have passed the state emission test, according to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.
Deputy Constables and the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force served search warrants at both locations.
The five arrested were charged with tampering with a government record.
In addition to seizing emissions analyzer machines, marijuana was also discovered at one of the locations, according to Pct. 5.
The investigation and search warrants were conducted by the precinct’s new emissions task force.
“The New Emissions Task Force was created as a result of grant funding made available to the County from the Texas Commission on Environmental quality Local Initiative Project,” a Pct. 5 statement read.
