Two Montgomery County assistant district attorneys stumbled across a suspected alcohol-related car accident on their way to a drunk driving checkpoint Friday night.
Andrew James and Tyler Dunman say they were driving down highway 242 near New Caney when they spotted the one-car wreck.
The prosecutors say the driver soon approached them as she talked on a cell phone.
Dunman says "we both immediately realized that she had very much slurred speech."
Then another driver rolled up and he appeared under the influence as well.
"I guess somebody that she had called, a gentleman she had called," Dunman says.
"He also had an open container and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and some slurred speech," according to the prosecutor.
Both suspects were taken into custody.
Further south in Harris County, more than 50 suspected DWI arrests were made by Sunday morning.
