HOUSTON - Some drivers deliver food.
Some deliver packages.
Erika Cardenas delivers bronzed bodies.
"It's mobile tanning," said Cardenas, owner of SLC Spray Tanning. "We come to you in the convenience of your home."
For the last few months, Cardenas has been on a mission to paint the town tan.
It is a business plan born out of her own love for the sun and using tanning beds to tint her skin.
Cardenas says after years of sunbathing, she noticed her skin was drying up.
Cancer was also a concern, so armed with a protective pop up tent and a spray gun like device, she started making house calls.
"She comes to my house. She does it and it lasts for two weeks," said Jennifer Davenport, a 23-year-old client. "I love it. It's so much more convenient. I've used tanning beds since I was 15 and it makes my skin so leathery."
Using an FDA-approved solution, Cardenas also offers a sort of "color and skincare menu."
Shes got everything from a pregnancy-safe organic mixture to glittery tones that she loads up, then lets loose.
"I pretty much am doing artwork on your body," said Cardenas.
Prices start at $40 for a one on one session, but drop to $25 a tan for larger groups like bachelorette and office parties.
And while she hasn't yet figured out a way to give herself a spray tan, it's satisfaction enough knowing she's literally saving the skin of clients of all ages.
"I'm having fun with it. I love what I'm doing."
