HOUSTON - It took 13 hours for doctors from Texas Children's Hospital to give one girl a new lease on life.
Taylor Sherrouse, 17, recieved a triple transplant surgery, earning a new heart, lungs, and liver.
Sherrouse was born with cystic fibrosis and has been a patient of the hospital for over a decade.
Last November, Taylor's condition worsened when she was diagnosed with a lung infection.
On June 22, she learned of three suitable organ donors.
She is recovering well and is expected to return home this week.
Doctors have said there have been only three simultaneous heart, lung, liver transplants in this decade.
