HOUSTON - A Deer Park councilman is out on bond after he was arrested on accusations he assaulted his wife.

Deer Park City Council member Jeff Pound posted a $1,500 bond and was released from the Harris County Jail, according to a Harris County Sheriff's Office statement. He was arrested early Sunday morning on a charge of assault--family violence at his home in the 400 block of Kimswick.

Police were dispatched to Pound's home after they had received a report of a family disturbance, according to the statement.

Police later determined that Pound had allegedly assaulted his wife, Lisa Pound, according to the statement.

The statement did not disclose the details of the alleged assault; however, Lisa Pound did not require hospitalization and refused medical attention at the scene, according to the statement.

In a statement issued to the media, Deer Park City Manager Ron Crabtree stated:

"The incident that occurred early Sunday morning involving the arrest of Councilman Jeff Pound is a personal family matter. It is being handled in the proper manner by law enforcement and it will be resolved through the appropriate legal process for the benefit of all parties."
