Mattress Mack Challenges Football Fans

HOUSTON - For college football fans, choosing the championing team could land you a 50 percent discount from Gallery Furniture.

Gallery Furniture owner Jim McIngvale is giving customers who spend at least $5,000 at his stores the chance to cut that tab in half if they pick the winner of this year's Bowl Championship Series game-- Texas or Alabama.

Customers who purchase furniture, electronics, rugs, accessories or bedding from a Gallery Furniture store between New Year's Eve and 5 p.m. Jan. 7 have the opportunity to predict the winner of the Jan. 7 game in Pasadena, Calif.

Customers who select the winning team will receive a 50-percent refund from their total purchase price.

"This game is going to be a terrific battle between two legendary teams and the contest is a great way for everyone from die-hard fans to pigskin novices to have a little fun and get a great deal at the same time," McIngvale said in a prepared statement. "And unlike most contests, this one is guaranteed to have many winners."
