HOUSTON - Police are investigating the death of a man found dead after an apparent work accident at a southwest Houston printing company.

Investigators say the accident took place at approximately 6 p.m. Monday at the 3900 Stoney Brook Drive.

A spokesperson for the Houston Police Department said that Cesar Barrios Gomez, 41, was operating a crane and trying to move it to another location, but the base of the crane failed and fell onto him.

Investigators say that several employees tried to pull Gomez from under the crane, but he died at the work site. Gomez had suffered a puncture wound to the head.

No charges have been filed in the case, but investigators did determine that the crane was loaded several hundred pounds over its one ton capacity.
