HOUSTON - A mayor of a city in Montgomery County could face jail time on accusations he violated conflict of interest laws.
Oak Ridge North Mayor Fred O'Connor was indicted Tuesday after a grand jury accused him of partaking in City Council discussions and deliberations regarding with Biofuels Power Corporation, a private company with whom he has substantial business interest, according to a Montgomery County statement.
The indictment also alleges O'Connor failed to adequately describe his relationship with Biofuels Power Corporation, according to the statement.
“We look forward to presenting this case to a judge or jury at the appropriate time,” First Assistant District Attorney Phil Grant said in the statement. “Hopefully this indictment serves as the first step in obtaining some closure for the City of Oak Ridge North so that they can move on from this difficult chapter in the city’s history and forward with the city’s business.”
