HOUSTON - Two of three suspects wanted in connection to the Thanksgiving Day murder of a Houston teacher are behind bars after they were arrested at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Monica Perez, 24, and Michael Moreno, 23, of Wharton were arrested crossing back into the U.S. at an international bridge in Brownsville Friday night. They were transported back to Wharton County Saturday.
Both suspects are wanted in connection to the Thanksgiving Day death of Reagan High School Spanish Teacher Heladio Rojas Perales, whose body was discovered inside his SUV in Fort Bend County.
A third suspect, 21-year-old Ramon Vega, is still at large.
Galena Park Police Chief Robert Pruett says Perales' family reported him missing at 4 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
Then a landowner contacted Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday about the abandoned vehicle which was towed that morning. A supervisor then discovered Perales' body.
Investigators believe Perales was killed at a residence in the city of Wharton before it was moved to Fort Bend County.
