Police Car Catches Fire, Trunk Explodes

HOUSTON - Firefighters arrive to an unusual sight as they find a patrol car on fire in northeast Houston.

The officer noticed a smoky smell after 11 p.m. and parked the car at the intersection of Homestead Road and East Crosstimbers Street.

When the officer stepped outside of the car, he saw fire coming from the truck and spreading quickly.

Firefighters were unable to put out the flames once all the shotgun shells in the truck began to explode.

No one was injured in the fire.

Arson investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire.
