A home invasion suspect is in critical condition after police say his victim turned the tables and opened fire.
It all happened mid afternoon Wednesday in the 1900 block of Hickory Glen in Missouri City.
Investigators with the Missouri City Police Department say a homeowner's son was working on his car in the home's driveway when two men approached. They asked the son for some money and forced him inside the home.
The trio ended up in a room where the son had a gun. The son grabbed the gun and shot at the suspects several times, hitting one of them multiple times.
The two suspects made their way out of the house, but injured on collapsed on the driveway. The other suspect jumped in a waiting Toyota Avalon and took off with the driver.
Aerial views of the scene showed emergency personnel performing CPR on the suspect as he was being transported to a LifeFlight helicopter. The injured suspect was taken to a hospital, where he is undergoing surgery and is said to be in extremely critical condition.
The incident caused a brief lockdown at nearby schools in Stafford MSD. A spokesman for the school district says the schools were released later than usual to make sure the area was safe for students.
