Deputies say a 911 call came too late to save the life of a 19-year-old who was shot during an attempted home burglary in northwest Harris County Friday afternoon.

Jubelle Sarano's boyfriend drove to her house in the 2500 block of South Camden Parkway after she called to tell him someone was trying to break into her house. When a door knock went unanswered, he called 911 to report what he was told.

But by the time deputies arrived at the home, they found Lone Star College student shot to death and her unharmed 6-year-old sister lying by her side.

Neighbors told detectives they heard what sounded like a hammer hitting a piece of plywood.

Detectives said after two suspects couldn't break into the house, at least one of them fired gunshots through the back door. The then suspects fled the scene.

Witnesses described the suspects as two young Black males who were both wearing white shirts and or jackets and blue denim pants.

The 6-year-old girl was taken to downtown Houston to be interviewed by investigators.
