Rosenberg police arrest a burglary suspect after officers say he crashed a motorcycle in an attempt to get away.
Officers arrived at approximately 3:45 a.m. Monday to a business that was burglarized at the 3300 block of First Street in Rosenberg and saw a suspicious person slowly riding a motorcycle around the building two times.
One of the officers followed the motorcycle rider.
Robert Caldwell, 47, crashed the motorcycle on U.S. Highway 59 and was arrested at first for several traffic violations including lack of insurance, failure to maintain speed, failure to stop at a stop sign and no motorcycle endorsement on his drivers license.
After watching surveillance video from the Monday burglary, one of the officers recognized Caldwell from the video. Caldwell confessed to an investigator that he took part in two burglaries in Rosenberg and one in Richmond.
Caldwell has been charged with burglary of a business and more charges are likely to be filed against him. He was brought first to Rosenberg City Jail after his arrest, but is expected to be transferred to Fort Bend County Jail.
