HOUSTON - Homicide investigators are asking for help from the public to find the suspect in the murder of a 28-year-old woman in a northeast Houston apartment unit.
Officers arrived at approximately 4 p.m. Friday to an apartment complex at the 16000 block of Cotillion Drive after the woman's friend contacted police and said she heard a disturbance.
Police found Iveth Leila Munoz dead as a result of undetermined injuries.
Investigators say Munoz opened the door to the unit and immediately tried to close it on the man outside, but he forced his way inside.
A neighbor went to check on Munoz a few hours later and found her dead, but the suspect was not in the unit, said a Houston Police Department spokesperson.
Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic man, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build and a possible pock-marked face. The man was seen wearing black jeans, a t-shirt and a black baseball-style cap.
Anyone with information on the case of Munoz's death or on the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-8477 (TIPS).
