HOUSTON - The Houston Heights Association will conduct a monthly meeting as usual, but their likely focus for the meeting Monday is undeniable -- the 14 fires that have plagued the neighborhood which are most likely the work of an alleged serial arsonist.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. Monday at The Heights City Hall and Fire Station on West 12th Street, not far from several of the fire sites.
Community leaders including U.S. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia are expected to attend and take part in the meeting.
Congresswoman Jackson Lee helped pass out flyers on Saturday in
the neighborhood to try and find the person or people responsible
for the fires.
Since Aug. 11, Houston firefighters have arrived to the site
of 14 fires in the same section of The Heights, with eight of the
fires sharing the 1000 block of Ashland Street location.
