HOUSTON - Two elderly people are able to safely escape from a burning home northeast Harris County as firefighters put out the electrical fire.

Members of the Sheldon Volunteer Fire Department arrived before 3 a.m. to the house at the intersection of Lamkin Drive and Woodacre Drive and found heavy smoke coming from the front of the house.

The firefighters entered the home and made what they called a "fast attack" on the fire and prevented it from spreading.

Investigators determined that the fire started in a front bedroom after a fan was plugged into an electrical outlet with a short circuit.
