Two brothers are found shot to death in Fresno. Fort Bend County Sheriff's investigators say one of the men was in a well-known street gang.
Roberto Hernandez's body was found near California Street in a 40-acre field inside a Chevy Impala. His brother, Jose Hernandez, was discovered a mile away lying in a dirt road.
Both men were in their early 20's and had been missing since late Sunday night.
"I've been trying to call him all morning, he calls me every single day, but he hasn't called me all morning," said Brittany Walker, the victim's girlfriend.
Friends of the two men say the older brother, Roberto, was the leader of the Southwest Cholos gang.
"He was like the original gangster, the highest rank," said Mariah Walker.
The letters "SWC" are spray painted throughout the area on street signs and fences.
"There's a problem, it's their sign of saying trouble," said nearby resident Georgetta Hubbard.
Fresno is a rural city of about 7,000 people. Many are shocked by the suspected gang activity.
"There's gangs in large cities obviously, but we're seeing a trend where they're moving to the suburbs and rural areas," said Patricia Harrington with Houston's Anti-Gang Office.
That's news many nearby residents didn't want to hear. "Just keep praying, it's sad, but what can you do," said Iva Marie Cohen.
There have been no arrests in the murders and no suspects named.
