A trail of radiator fluid and a piece of automotive plastic--these are the meager clues in an unsolved "hit and run" that's almost five months old.
21-year old Christopher Leal was struck and killed while walking home from an Arcola pool hall on March 8.
Investigators say there are no known witnesses.
But Leal's mother speaks of a silent witness on Highway 6 at the crime scene: a trail of radiator fluid that tells her the driver laid eyes on her dead son.
For the fluid to lead to where it turns around and comes back, it stops and then proceeds, that's what leads me to believe they know what they did.
Rosemary Leal hopes to prick a guilty conscience into providing her family with some answers.
This is how you're going to get that peace, if you step up to the plate and you admit that what you did was wrong.
