HOUSTON - A civilian contractor accused of sexually assaulting a co-worker
in Iraq will be allowed to stay at his aunt's house while he awaits
trial.
Charles Breda Jr is charged with abusive sexual contact and
could spend 10 years in federal prison if convicted.
Defense attorney Roderick White convinced a judge Breda, who
was arrested last week at a Houston area barber college, was not a
flight risk. Breda left Iraq in February of this year.
The indictment against him alleges Breda, who worked as a
contractor for KBR, sexually assaulted a woman at Camp Al Asad, an
airbase in Iraq in October 2008. His trial is set for next month.
As part of his release, Breda will have to post a $100,000
bond and wear an electronic monitoring device while staying with
his aunt in Port Arthur.
