HOUSTON - Deputies have arrested a man in connection with the attempted abduction of a 14-year-old girl near a Fort Bend County middle school.
The suspect, Craig Alan Stillwagon, is accused of grabbing the teen by the arm and demanding she get into his truck after she refused an offer for a ride home Thursday afternoon, according to investigators. The teen kicked the suspect in the shins and managed to free herself and run for help.
The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. as the girl was walking in the 16000 block of Bissonnet near Hodges Bend Middle School, officials said.
"This young lady did a remarkable job," said Fort Bend Chief Deputy Craig Brady. "Not only did she fight and even injure her attacker, she memorized part of his license plate number and gave a very accurate description of his truck, including some very distinctive markings on it."
That description rang a bell for one patrol deputy, according to officials, and once they had Stillwagon's name they pulled the registration on his truck, which matched the partial plate from the victim.
Brady says the 14-year old picked Stillwagon out of a photo lineup.
He is charged with attempted kidnapping and is being held in lieu of $150,000 bond.
