HOUSTON, Texas - Wedding plans are tragically halted when a man set to get married today is instead killed in a fiery collision.
Harris County Sheriff's Department accident investigators say that around 2:45 a.m. Saturday, Travis Thompson was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed in the 21000 block of Aldine Westfield.
Thompson's 2004 Pontiac GTO failed to maintain a single lane of traffic and struck a raised, curbed median on the east side of the roadway, say officials.
Investigators say the vehicle left the roadway and caught fire after striking a metal pole.
Officials say Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained during the collision.
The Harris County Sheriffs Office Traffic Enforcement Section is investigating this collision.
