Plane Crashes Near Baytown Airpark

BAYTOWN, Texas - At least one person is hurt after a plane crash near the RWJ Airpark in Baytown.

The man who was injured was taken by LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

FOX 26 News has learned that the man flew in his home-built vintage plane at approximately 7:30 a.m. Wednesday from the airpark and landed a short time later.

The flight was the maiden voyage for the single-engine plane. During the second flight attempt from the airpark, the plane's engine sputtered multiple times and forced the pilot to try to land the aircraft in a Chambers County subdivision.

The airplane struck a mailbox and caused one of the wheels to break off.
