June 23 Recognized as ‘Isiah Carey Day’ in Houston

HOUSTON - FOX 26 reporter Isiah Carey was recognized with a special proclamation in the City of Houston on Tuesday.

June 23, 2009 was declared “Isiah Carey Day” in Houston after the reporter presented a special report on the homeless population in the city.

In his blog, Carey said he was honored by the recognition.

“Council member Adams and I spent the night on the streets to explore the issue,” said Carey. “The city said thanks in a paper document I will treasure forever.”

The mayor declared the day after a recommendation from Councilwoman Wanda Adams.

Councilman Peter Brown presented Carey a plaque during the ceremony.
