LA MARQUE, Texas - A man police believed to have been intoxicated dies after officers used a Taser to subdue him in La Marque.
La Marque Police Chief Richard Price says officers found the man rolling around in a ditch at approximately 10:30 p.m. Sunday. The man fought with three officers when they tried to take him into custody, according to Price.
When the officers used the stun device on the man, he collapsed and was taken to Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, where he died.
Price says the officers were bruised in the fight but were not injured severely. They have been assigned to administrative duties until the investigation is complete.
The man's identity has not been released.
The Galveston County District Attorney's Office and Sheriff's Office are investigating the case.
