HOUSTON - Hundreds of people protest the disputed outcome of the Iranian presidential elections outside the Russian Consulate General's office in southwest Houston.
The group, composed of the Iranian community in Houston and Iranian students from Rice University, organized the silent protest in response to the Russian government's recognition of Mahmoud Ahmadenijad as the legitimately elected president of Iran.
The protesters gathered outside the Consulate General of the Russian Federation office at approximately 12 p.m. Thursday.
The organizers said, "Ahmadinejad was warmly welcomed in Moscow on 6/16 by Dmitry Medvedev while millions of Iranians were and still are risking their lives protesting against the rigged election," according to a news release.
