It’s something just about every child enjoys, and it could have major health benefits in the long run. It’s how the Houston Texans football team is getting involved in Building Better Minds.
On Sunday, 15 children from the Cuney Homes will take part in the Texans’ pregame show.
They’ll run out with the cheerleaders and get to wear “Play 60” uniforms given to them by the Texans mascot “Toro.”
"We have so many kids in this generation that will actually -- their parents will outlive them because of the different diseases, diabetes, heart disease and different things like that,” says one of the organizers.
In fact, nearly one in every three kids is overweight or obese, but the Texans have teamed up with the YMCA to combat that problem. They hope to motivate students to lead active lifestyles.
Through the "Play 60" program, students are learning not only to exercise for at least an hour a day. They're also encouraged to adopt better eating habits:
And that's the start of leading fit lives.
