A Tunisian woman is pregnant with 12 fetuses and set to give birth to all 12 babies later this month, according to the Daily Mail .
The unnamed mother-to-be, who is a teacher, is apparently defying medical advice by vowing to give birth to all 12 babies -- six girls and six boys.
Her husband, who teaches at the same Tunisian school, has said the couple has been blessed by the pregnancy. They turned to fertility treatment after suffering two miscarriages in two years.
Fertility experts said that although it is possible for a woman to conceive 12 babies, it is very risky and there is a very good chance that none of the babies will survive.
If she succeeds in delivering all 12 babies she will smash the world record for multiple births. In 1999 a Malaysian mother gave birth to nine living babies , officially the most babies in one birth. Sadly, none of the five boys and four girls survived beyond six hours.
In January of this year, Nadya Suleman defied doctors' predictions when she gave birth to eight healthy babies. She currently holds the record for the longest-living octuplets in history. Suleman will be the subject of a FOX special this week and has signed a deal for all 14 of her children to star in a reality television show .
