A warning about crooks trying to take advantage of the elderly. The crooks are pretending to be from non-profit organizations that serve senior citizens.

The crooks' goal is to get personal information from seniors.
These impostors are claiming to be from two Houston non-profits: Neighborhood Centers and Sheltering Arms.

President of Sheltering Arms Robert Phillips says inspectors would never approach a senior citizen of out the blue.

"We would never just show up or call someone saying that we would provide weatherization services for them," Phillips said. "We have a formal application procedure that they initiate."

If you think you may have been approached by one of these impostors, you need to report it to the Texas Attorny General's Office: http://www.oag.state.tx.us/consumer/complain.shtml
