When David Heslep of Fulshear, sits down for his morning cup of coffee, he often faces his neighbors garage.
Trying to be a good neighbor, he didn't want to put up a fence. It would block the neighbor's view of the open space behind both houses.
So Heslep opted for split blinds in his living room and kitchen.
"Give us a little bit of privacy from the neighbors from outside and help our heating and cooling bills," Heslep says.
Heslep says found a contractor, checked his references and then paid him $1300 to install the made-to-order blinds. He was promised the blinds would be in by Christmas. That was in October.
Christmas came and went. Valentines Day came and went. No blinds were ever delivered..
The contractor apologized, saying he was having problem with the manufacturer. Heslep says he asked for the blinds or a refund.
"I wanted one or the other, I wanted something to happen."
Nothing did. So Heslep Took it to Akin.
When we called the contractor he told us the same story about the manufacturer. He promised a refund.
"He called me immediately and said, 'I'm very sorry.'"
A week later he gave Heslep his money back.
