One Kentucky couple is learning the hard way how far they are willing to travel and how passionately they are willing to fight to save the lives of their children.
The Goranflo family from Louisville say they are willing to go as far as it takes.
5-year old Hailey and 3-year old Carter suffer from Batten's Disease, a rare genetic disorder that causes seizures, loss of muscle control and eventually, death.
The children require stem cell implants not available in the U.S.
The family has traveled throughout the country, including stops in the Houston area, to raise enough money for treatment in China. The couple has already paid the Chinese doctors $40,000 to hold their room.
The problem the family faces now is that they cannot get to China.
While changing planes in Vancouver, Canada last week, the Chinese airline told them that Hailey was too sick to fly. The family is now headed back to Louisville by medical helicopter, where a Kentucky Congressman is stepping in to help find a solution.
The family is asking for any donations so they can find a way to fly to China so they can save these two young lives.
