Precinct 6 Constable Victor TreviTwo Harris County Precinct Constables will work together to ensure that Halloween will be safe from sexual predators who target children.

Precinct 6 Constable Victor Treviño and Precinct 7 Constable May Walker along with two other law enforcement divisions will arrange for deputies along with parole and probation officers to drive to the homes of registered sex offenders in the two precincts. The officers will verify that the offenders do not adorn their homes with attractive Halloween decorations.

Probation officers have already warned registered offenders that placing Halloween decorations on the exterior of their homes or taking part in Halloween activities may be probation violations.

Registered sex offenders have also been instructed to leave their porch lights off during Halloween night and to not open doors to trick-or-treaters that night.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice is prepared to issue emergency warrants for any sex offenders violating terms of their parole.

Regarding the joint initiative, Constable Treviño said, "The most beautiful treasure we have is our children." He added, "We must continue to protect and create a safer environment for our children."
