The Chambers County Health Department has received to date only 2.5 percent of its requested 30,000 doses of the H1N1 Vaccine.
The H1N1 vaccine is arriving in lower than projected quantities state-wide because of manufacturing delays.
Due to the limited supply of vaccine, the Texas Department of State Health Services has advised both public and private providers to vaccinate certain priority groups ONLY at the present time.
These priority groups include:
· Pregnant women
· Children 6 months through 4 years of age
· People 5 years through 64 years of age with high-risk health conditions
· Health care workers who provide direct patient care
· Close contacts of infants 6 months or younger
We have been advised that as the supply of the vaccine increases, we will be able to target more priority groups and later the general population.
The Chambers County Health Department will begin vaccinating these priority groups starting Thursday, November 19, 2009 as follows:
Thursdays: West Chambers County Health Department in the Courthouse Annex 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
Fridays: East Chambers County Health Department in the Courthouse Annex 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays: Health Department in Anahuac 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
