Checking Your Hospital Wait Online

HOUSTON - A new online service should make a trip to a northwest Harris County emergency room less frustrating.
The Cypress-Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital is using its website to let potential patients know how long the wait will be at the emergency room.
Patients can now go to the website and check the average wait time over a two hour period.
The hospital's director of critical care services says the new system gives patients options.
"You'll have the opportunity to make the choice: Should I go to that emergency department? Could I possibly go to an urgent care facility?" Mary Anne Provost says.
Provost says the wait times will be accurate, unless major emergencies occur before the patient arrives.
