Foundation Surgical Hospital is presenting a live partial knee replacement, featuring a new personalized knee resurfacing system. You can watch it live at 6 p.m.Tuesday.
It should last about an hour and 20 minutes. You can even e-mail doctors questions during the procedure.
Dr. Terry Clyburn and Dr. Brian Parsley will perform the surgery live from Foundation Surgical Hosptial in Houston.
"We use a CT scan of a patient's diseased knee to create a C-D model of the anatomy. This model is then used to develop an implant and accompanying surgical instrumentation that are precisely matched to the anatomy of the patient. This simplified, more accurate surgical technique results in an implant that is almost identical to the original knee", says Dr. Terry Clyburn.
Doctors will also use disposable instruments, which helps lower risks of infection. The procedure is approved by the FDA.
