HOUSTON - The U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on President Barack Obama's health care reform initiative and Democratic members of Congress say the controversial bill can likely pass even with total Republican opposition. The American Medical Association is on board to support the bill, although the organization does some reservations.

AMA president-elect Dr. Cecil Wilson explains on FOX 26 Morning News that the proposal will correct a health care system that is broken.

The 2009 Interim Meeting of the AMA House of Delegates will take place in Houston at the Hilton Americas from Saturday, Nov. 7 until Tuesday, Nov. 10.

The AMA has announced its position on House health reform bill H.R. 3962, The Affordable Health Care for America Act, as well as urge passage of H.R. 3961 to ensure the security and stability of Medicare. The AMA says it remains committed to health reform that provides all Americans with affordable, high quality health coverage through a system built on a solid foundation.
