HOUSTON - This is no ordinary circus. The world famous Cirque Du Soleil is hitting the Houston area for the next couple weeks.
FOX 26 had a behind the scenes look as the high-flying performers practiced at the Berry Center in Cypress.
"We've been training for this our whole lives in sport," said performer Ryan Stephenson.
The long-running show "Saltimbanco" is a combination of acrobatics and theater seen by more than 10 million fans worldwide.
"We have a lot of freedom in the show to act how we want and be crazy," said Stephenson.
Fifty performers from twenty different countries put life and limb on the line as they fly through the air without security ropes.
"There's a certain amount of risk, but the risk is built in to what makes a circus interesting," said artistic director Adam Miller.
The show at the Berry Center in Cypress runs Wednesday, July 15 through Sunday, July 19. The performance shifts to Toyota Center in downtown Houston from July 22-26. Tickets range in price from $40-$95.
