A United Way agency continues to assist victims of Hurricane Ike in the La Porte area.
Neighborhood Centers, Inc. held an Ike Recovery Fair Friday for residents of La Porte and nearby Shoreacres.
Some residents are still living in FEMA trailers.
Others have returned to their rebuilt homes, but are without gas or electricity.
La Porte resident Paula Swearingen, who also works for Neighborhood Centers, Inc., says Ike is much more than a bad memory for residents.
"It's part of the heartbreak that we are still dealing with Ike. It continues, it's not over for us," Swearingen says.
